    We continue to follow Anna Mues, a German governess working in her first overseas position in England. Anna has settled into family life in Kent but tragedy is not far away. This is part of her memoir, which I am currently translating.

After a stormy English Channel crossing, she encounters a ‘sandwich’ at Cannon Street station, experiences confusion over how to say no to sherry, and encounters ‘toast’ at breakfast. This is part of her memoir, which I am currently translating.
