Summer 1878: time for a change. Travels around Europe and a meeting with the Pope
In part four of the Anna Project, Anna considered her good fortune in going to work for the wealthy Tindal family.
But even comfortable surroundings and kind employers can’t alter the fact that, after nearly four years, Anna is exhausted by looking after her five charges.
Fortunately for Anna, a friend steps in to invite her on an extended tour of Europe and it’s off to Germany and then onward to Italy. Anna is very taken by her stay in Rome, which includes an audience with Pope Leo XIII, but much less impressed by the greedy pigeons of St Mark’s Square in Venice.
