Summer 1873–1878: another new family, travel-related disaster averted and feeling fortunate
In part three of the Anna Project, Anna spent two years employed by the FitzRoys, leaving as her charges made their social débuts.
She quickly finds a new family, and obviously enjoys the comforts of upper-middle class living with the Tindals in Hampshire: country estate, twelve house servants and summers at the seaside.
Anna continues to travel internationally, heading back to visit family in Germany, which on one occasion nearly ends in disaster but for a knight in shining armour in the form of a young Englishman whose carriage gets her to the boat on time.
Anna again realises her good fortune in her employers when an encounter with another local German governess brings home how less kindly other women are treated.
